**Our Story**

Leg-Up Ministry Inc. was founded and incorporated by Rick (Paul) and Donna Haynie, whose lives were shaped by years of service with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Throughout their careers, they witnessed firsthand the wasted potential of so many individuals and the devastating effects that difficult circumstances can have on people’s lives.

After Rick retired following 26 years of dedicated service, we knew we couldn’t simply walk away from what we had witnessed. We felt called to do something more—to reach people before hopelessness took hold, help families facing hardship, and remind those struggling that their lives still have value and purpose.

With Christ at the center of our hearts, Leg-Up Ministry Inc. was born from a desire to turn that calling into action. Since 2022, we have served individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardship, sharing the love of Jesus through practical assistance, compassion, and faith.

**Reaching Those in Need**

Each month, we distribute approximately 500 to 800 pounds of essential supplies directly to people living on the streets of Detroit. These supplies include clothing, hygiene products, food, bedding, and Bibles.

We believe that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity for a fresh start. Our goal is not simply to meet immediate needs, but to offer encouragement and remind people that they have not been forgotten.

**Helping Families Turn Houses into Homes**

Our ministry also partners with homeless shelters to help families transition into permanent housing. We understand that receiving the keys to a home is only the beginning. Families need the basic necessities to make that house a place where they can live comfortably, rebuild their lives, and grow together.

We help provide new beds for every family member, dining tables large enough for the entire family to gather around, bedding, silverware, kitchen essentials, and small appliances.

These items may seem ordinary to some, but to a family starting over, they can mean everything. A bed provides a place to rest. A dining table creates a place to reconnect. A furnished home offers a foundation for a new beginning.

**A Ministry Built on Faith and Generosity**

Leg-Up Ministry Inc. operates entirely through donations, trusting God to move people’s hearts to respond to the needs of others. Every donation makes a difference, allowing us to bring practical help and Christian love to people who need both.

We do not believe people should be defined by their circumstances or their past. We believe in the potential God places within every person and in the power of compassion to help someone find a new direction.

Our years of experience taught us how easily potential can be lost. Our faith has inspired us to help people discover that hope and opportunity are still possible.

Leg-Up Ministry Inc. is more than a charitable organization. It is our response to God’s calling to serve others, love our neighbors, and be His hands and feet in a world filled with need.
